Hexagon’s Positioning Intelligence division (Hexagon PI) is pleased to welcome AutonomouStuff following the completion of the acquisition as announced by Hexagon AB. AutonomouStuff being part of Hexagon PI will boost collaboration between the organizations to provide superior solutions for autonomous vehicle development. The acquisition of U.S.-based AutonomouStuff, first announced in June, is now complete.

DHS Taking a Risk-Based Look at PNT Resilience

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has launched a new effort to ascertain the real-world risks posed by the loss of positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) service and how those risks might be reduced, said James Platt, director of DHS’s PNT Program Management Office. On the table is testing, best practices, partnerships, a new management approach and possibly standards and a backup system.

Emergency Location Services, Airborne Lidar Systems the Focus of ION GNSS+ Keynotes

Cell phones are helping save lives with their location accuracy during emergencies, but they can get even better.

That was one of the messages delivered by Google’s Steve Malkos during his keynote address Tuesday night at the ION GNSS+ Plenary Session in Miami. Malkos, the Technical Program Manager in the Android Location and Context Group at Google, gave one of two keynotes to a packed ballroom of attendees. Paul LaRocque of Teledyne Optech gave the other speech on Tuesday, titled “A Lidar History: From Ship to Air to Space.”
