CSNC 2011: China Satellite Navigation Conference

Exhibit from the first Compass Satellite Navigation Conference

The second China Satellite Navigation conference will take place at Shanghai’s Expo Center on May 18-20, 2011.

The conference scientific chair is Prof. Sun Jiadong.

The aim of the conference is to build satellite navigation as an active academic field in China, to promote satellite system technology innovation and to strengthen the relationship between business and government for the advance of China’s Compass/Beidou system.

In between partisan confrontations around the 2011 federal budget and raising the U.S. debt limit, prospects are improving for federal legislation that would provide the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with a regular full-year budget for the first time since Fiscal Year 2007 — including support for completing the transition to a GNSS-driven air traffic control (ATC) system known as NextGen and a “public-private partnership” to equip aircraft with the needed avionics.

New Advanced Receiver Course Featured in NavtechGPS July Seminar

NavtechGPS, the Washington D.C.-based GNSS technology trainers, will introduce a new advanced receiver course for engineers and designers in their summer seminar series at the Doubletree Hotel in Annapolis, Maryland next July 11-15.

The course is called "Using Advanced GPS/GNSS Signals and Systems." Signal and receiver design expert John Betz, MITRE Corporation, and James Sennott, president of Tracking and Imaging Systems, Inc will teach it.

Trimble Announces Plans to Buy Ashtech

Continuing a series of acquisitions in recent years, Trimble announced today (April 19, 2011) that the Sunnyvale, California–based company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Ashtech S.A.S.

In announcing the its plans, Trimble said that it expects the acquisition of the Carquefou, France, company and its affiliates will expand the U.S. company’s Spectra Precision portfolio of survey solutions and allow the company to better address emerging markets worldwide.

Hexagon 2011 International Conference

A number of user conferences for customers of Hexagon AB’s precise measurement brands and products will be combined in the Swedish corporation’s first international conference this summer.

It will take place at Orlando World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida from June 6 through June 9, 2011.

The theme is "Building a Smarter World," and will include 200 technical and training sessions and an industry exhibition.

It is the process of resolving the unknown cycle ambiguities of the carrier-phase data as integers. Once this has been done successfully, the very precise carrier-phase data will act as pseudorange data, thus making very precise positioning and navigation possible.

Hemisphere GPS: China OEM Alliance, New GPS Compass Products

Hemisphere GPS has announced an OEM alliance with a Chinese manufacturer of agricultural, construction, and power machinery equipment as well as the release of two compact GPS compass products.

The Calgary, Alberta, Canada–based company’s alliance with YTO Group Corporation, headquartered in Luoyang City, China, is part of Hemisphere GPS’s to expand its operations in the international realm.
