China Launches Another BeiDou Navigation Satellite

China sent a new BeiDou navigation satellite into orbit on a Long March-3A rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, in the southwestern Sichuan Province, at 4:58 a.m., Tuesday, July 10.

The satellite is the 32nd of the BeiDou navigation system, and one of the BeiDou-2 family, which is the second generation of the system. The state-run Xinhua press agency confirmed the launch within two hours after liftoff.

China Launches Two BeiDou-3 Satellites Featuring Accurate Rubidium Atomic Clocks

According to reports out of China, new, very accurate rubidium atomic clocks onboard two BeiDou-3 satellites launched into space on November 5 have greatly improved the accuracy of the system.

The country launched two BeiDou-3 satellites into space via a single carrier rocket to support its global navigation and positioning network at 11:45 UTC on Sunday (November 5). The satellites were aboard a Long March-3B carrier rocket which took off from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan, according to the China Xinhua News Agency.

Rohde & Schwarz and MediaTek present world’s first test solution for A-BeiDou LBS

Rohde & Schwarz and MediaTek have successfully completed the verification of location based services (LBS) in the U-plane and C-plane for A-BeiDou (Assisted BeiDou), China’s GNSS satellite positioning system. The R&S TS-LBS test solution is designed to allow mobile manufacturers, chipset manufacturers, test houses and network operators to verify chipsets and mobile devices in order to obtain permission to operate them in a particular network.

BeiDou Milestones Include Accuracy to Within 1 to 2 Meters

China’s domestically produced satellite navigation system BeiDou has made significant progress in terms of its accuracy, according to reports out of China earlier this month. At a recent press conference, BeiDou engineers claimed that a new accurate positioning chip can now help users arrive at their destinations with an error margin of just one to two meters.
