Applanix Introduces New Aerial Digital Photogrammetric System

Applanix
has introduced the POSTrack 410 flight management and direct
georeferencing system designed for use with the latest generation of
medium-format airborne digital photogrammetric camera.

The POSTrack 410 incorporates Applanix’s POS AV GNSS-inertial navigation
system (INS) and POSPac Mobile Mapping Suite (MMS) office software,
featuring the IN-Fusion technology and SmartBase module. This system
can process both GPS and GLONASS signals as well as those from
satellite-based augmentation systems.

Companies Announce GPS/Wi-Fi Collaboration

Ekahau Inc. has announced that its Wi-Fi location tracking software is being integrated into GPS receivers designed by NavSync Ltd. to enable customers to continuously track asset in indoor and outdoor environments.

Wi-Fi–enabled GPS tag combines NavSync’s NavTrac GPS module with Ekahau’s location protocol. The NavTrac module incorporates the CW85 16-channel GPS receiver/802.11b/g transmitter combination.

Loctronix Gains Patent for Its Spectral Compression Positioning, Tracks CDMA, GNSS

[Updated 4/26/09] On March 31, the U.S. Patent Office granted Loctronix Corporation its first patent, which will provide the foundation for its Spectral Compression Positioning (SCP) technology that enables multi-source positioning capability in a single sensor. Subsequently, the company announced that it had successfully achieved meter-level ranging performance using CDMA cellular signals.

OnPOZ Offers Free ArcPad GNSS Driver Extension

Montreal, Quebec, Canada–based OnPOZ Precision Positioning has released, GNSS Driver for ArcPad, a new extension to the ESRI product that allows GNSS post-processing using different GNSS receiver brands.

The receiver-independent extension can significantly improve GNSS/GIS data accuracy and reliability, logging real-time positions, metadata, and all GNSS observations in order to increase the reliability and accuracy of GNSS positions by post-processing ESRI Shapefiles.

u-blox Launches Mobile Computer Cards

u-blox PCI-5S and PCM-5S

u-blox has announced the immediate availability of a GPS “PCI Express Mini” card. The card enables laptops, netbooks, mobile Internet devices, and “Ultra Mobile” PC OEMs to provide GPS and location-based services such as personal navigation, services/people finder, and geo-tagging.

Sales of mobile PCs with integrated GPS are projected to grow from 3 million units in 2007 to 45 million units in 2011, according to the company.

Trimble has introduced a series of new products targeting the agriculture market where the company has been doing particularly well in recent years. These include an integrated display for manual or automated machine operation, a variable rate application (VRA) option for the company’s lightbar guidance system, and two new differential GPS receivers.

The AgGPS FmX integrated display can operate as either a stand-alone manual guidance system or as part of an automated guidance, implement control or steering system. The FmX touch screen display is 12.1 inches, approximately 35 percent larger than the industry standard 10.4-inch screen, yet the display requires no more space in the cab than its predecessor, the AgGPS FieldManager, according to the company.

Applanix Upgrades POS, POSpac Products

Applanix Corporation has launched the POSPac MMS (Mobile Mapping Suite) 5.2, the latest release of its GNSS-aided inertial post-processing software for mobile mapping and surveying applications in multiple environments.

Applanix has announced that its POS AV products now support on-board OmniSTAR XP real-time differential GPS corrections using a purpose-built GNSS+L-band aircraft antenna and an embedded BD960 GNSS receiver.

OnPOZ Precision Positioning Releases new GNSS Post-Processor with GLONASS Compatibility

OnPOZ Precision Positioning, a VGI Solutions division, has announced its new EZSurv GNSS Post-Processing version that offers full compatibility with GLONASS satellite signals.

According to the Montreal, Quebec, Canada–based company, EZSurv is compatible with most of the raw GNSS data formats on the market. The software computes high-accuracy geodetic results, enabling seamless data postprocessing among different brands of GNSS receivers and as a companion software for high-precision GNSS OEM receivers.
