The 2015 World Congress of the International Association of Institutes of Navigation will take place at a new venue, the Corinthia Hotel, close to the well-preserved historical center of Prague, Czech Republic, on October 20 – 23, 2015. This will be the 15th meeting of all of the member organzations, who will discuss the science and practice of navigation and related technologies.

“I was born in Arles, in the south of France,” says Michel Monnerat, “but I left France before my first birthday. We moved many times, from place to place.”

Monnerat’s father worked for a civil engineering company, specializing in maritime works — harbor construction, coastal protection, and such. His family lived in Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Tunisia, but Monnerat spent most of my early life in Lomé, the capital city of Togo.

Trimble CenterPoint RTX correction service is a GPS-, GLONASS-, and QZSS-enabled correction service built on Trimble RTX technology that provides high-accuracy GNSS positioning without the use of traditional reference station-based differential RTK infrastructure.

A common refrain in the world of GNSS is the desire for “interoperability,” the use of signals from multiple systems without a decline — and potentially even an improvement — in the quality of results.

Achieving this depends on large part in establishing comparable parameters — particularly the geodetic references and timing systems — among the GNSSs along with a dense network of ground reference stations that can provide continuous, precise monitoring of satellites’ orbital positions.

Enhanced Differential Loran Maritime Trials in The Netherlands Declared Successful

The Dutch Pilots Corporation and Reelektronika announced today (January 7, 2014) the successful development and test of an Enhanced Differential Loran (eDLoran) backup to GNSS in The Netherlands.

Trials at sea and in the Rotterdam Europort harbor area met the requirement for absolute accuracies in the five-meter range, according to Durk van Willigen, CEO of Reelektronika, and Wim van Buuren, Loodswezen’s information & communications technology (ICT) and innovation manager and board member.

Hemisphere GNSS Announces New GNSS OEM Positioning Modules

Hemisphere GNSS has launched the Eclipse P306 and P307 multi-frequency GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou modules, the first products to incorporate the company’s new SX4 ASIC.

With 372 channels, the modules can simultaneously track code and carrier phase signals on up to 89 satellites, are are Galileo- and QZSS-ready, and can be configured to address several diverse applications through software, according to the company.

Trimble has introduced its BD930 module as part of its GNSS OEM portfolio.
 
This small module features triple-frequency support for GPS and GLONASS plus dual-frequency support for BeiDou and Galileo constellations. Capable of receiving a wide range of commercially available GNSS signals, the 220-channel BD930 takes advantage of all available signals to provide reliable RTK centimeter-level positioning.
