The ILMF celebrates its tenth anniversary this year at the Hyatt Regency in Denver, Colorado on March 3-5.

This technical conference and exhibition will feature 30 papers, including two on how Light Detection and Ranging technology is being used in Haiti to assess damage from the recent earthquake and also the probability of future earthquakes.

2010 Space Weather Workshop

The annual Space Weather Workshop will take place at the Millennium Hotel in Boulder, Colorado on April 27-30 2010. The registration deadline is April 2.

The program highlights space weather impacts in several areas, including communications, navigation, spacecraft operations, aviation, and electric power. 

At the 2010 conference, discussions of GNSS impacts will take place all morning right after the opening remarks on Tuesday, April 27.

2010 International Symposium on GPS/GNSS

The theme of the 2010 International Symposium on GPS/GNSS is "At a Turning Point." It will take place at Howard International House in Taipei, Taiwan on October 26-28.

National Cheng Kung University is organizing and hosting the event. The symposium will be held in English.

The annual forum is open to innovative ideas on GNSS systems, techniques, applications and opportunities by researchers and engineers from academia and industry.

JAXA Gives QZSS Satellite a Nickname – “Michibiki”

Quasi-Zenith satellite orbit

The Japanese Space Agency has selected a nickname for its first GNSS satellite: “Michibiki.”  JAXA received more than 11,000 entries in its recent contest to raise national awareness of the GPS augmentation program.

The first of three Quasi-Zenith satellites will launch during the Japanese 2010 fiscal year, sometime before March 31, 2011.

NaviForum 2010 Conference

Shanghai Exhibition Center

The Compass/Beidou 2 satellite navigation system will be the focus of China’s 2010 NaviForum.

It will be held from September 1 to 3 2010 in Friendship Hall at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, one of the landmarks of Shanghai. It was built in 1955 and named the "Sino-Soviet Friendship Building."

NaviForum will take place during the 2010 World Expo.

NaviForum will be incorporated into the Intelligent Transportation Systems conference, ITS Conference and Expo Shanghai.

APEC GIT/14: Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation GNSS Implementation Team Meeting

The 14th Meeting of the APEC Global Navigation Satellite System Implementation Team will be held at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Seattle, Washington USA from June 21-24, 2010.

Registration is open online at the web address below.

The last meeting held in Singapore tabled a draft strategy for 2010-15 that emphasized intermodal GNSS transportation applications. It will also serve as the focus of the Seattle meeting.

International CTIA Wireless, the mobile industry’s annual mega-trade show in Las Vegas, takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Tuesday, March 23 through Thursday, March 25 2010 with a pre-conference on March 22.

It covers everything – technology to retail – about wireless and converged communications, wireless broadband, applications, mobile web and data.

Educational sessions on March 23 and 24 include one aimed at engineers and designers, "Next-Gen Networks and Devices."
