Raven Innovation Summit 2013: Precision Agriculture

The Raven Innovation Summit 2013 will take place at the Sioux Falls Sheraton and Convention Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from 3 p.m. on June 4 to 5 p.m. on June 5.

Raven Industries applied technology division develops GPS-guided steering systems and other precision agriculure products. Its electronic systems division (starlinkdgps.com) specializes in GPS navigation signal amplification and connection solutions.

2013 ESA Summer School on GNSS

The European Space Agency’s annual navigation summer school offers students from around the world a chance for a thorough grounding in satellite navigation theory and practice with lecturers who are leaders in the field.

It will take place this year at Schatzalp Snow and Mountain Resort in Davos, Switzerland from Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 25.

2013 Space Weather Workshop

In 1997, AT&T’s Telstar 401 satellite failed, probably due to magnetic storms

The annual Space Weather Workshop will take place on April 16-19 2013 at Millennium Harvest House Hotel in Boulder, Colorado. Registration opens on February 15.

Sunday, March 31 is the registration and abstract submission deadline.

This meeting will bring together customers, forecasters, vendors, and researchers of space weather information.

Q: What will limit the spread of multi-frequency GNSS receivers into the mass market?

A: To set the scene, we need to define our terms of reference. By multi-frequency we mean receivers that operate with navigation signals in more than just the standard upper L-band from about 1560–1610 MHz where we find GPS L1, Galileo E1, Compass B1, and GLONASS L1. The obvious additional frequency is the lower L-band, from about 1170 to 1300 MHz, where again the same four constellations have signals.

EGU General Assembly 2013: European Geosciences Union

The 2013 European Geosciences Union General Assembly and exhibition will take place in the Austria Center Vienna (ACV) from April 7 through April 12.

The event attracts more than 11,000 geoscientists from all over the world. The official language is English. The early registration deadline is March 13. The program will be available after March 25.

2013 Geospatial World Forum

The 2013 Geospatial World Forum and industry exhibition will be held at the Beurs – World Trade Center in the international port city of Rotterdam on May 13-16.

This year’s theme is "Monetizing Geospatial Value and Practices." The keynote speakers are Chris Gibson, vice president of Trimble and Mark Reichardt, president and CEO of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

United Nations/ Croatia Workshop on GNSS Applications

This five-day workshop is one of several sponsored by the Office for Outer Space Affairs of the United Nations in various European countries. The workshops will give participants an overview of GNSS systems and applications with the aim of strengthening a network of national reference stations and promoting the interoperability of navigation, positioning and timing systems in the region.

The UN/Croatia workshop will take place on Baška, Krk Island on April 21-25, 2013.
It is free.

GENIUS Workshop: GNSS Integrity Monitoring

A free three-day program on "GNSS Integrity Monitoring" will take place at Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC) at 7, Ave. Edouard Belin in Toulouse on June 18, 19 and 20, 2013.

This is third course in the EU’s GENIUS project series of 3-day GNSS training programs for professionals. Five are scheduled in 2013 and five in 2014.

The instructors are Dr. Christophe Macabiu, head of ENAC’s Telecom lab, Dr. Anaïs Martineau, head of the Electronics, Electromagnetism and Signal division of ENAC and Prof. Carl Milner, also of ENAC Telecom lab.

The European Commission and the European GNSS Agency (GSA) introduce the GENIUS project’s series of 3-day GNSS training programs for professionals. Five are scheduled in 2013 and five in 2014.

The first program is "Fundamentals of GNSS." It will take place at GSA headquarters in Prague on March 4,5 and 6, 2013.
