Hemisphere GNSS Introduces IronOne Rugged Display & Computer

Scottsdale, Arizona-based Hemisphere GNSS, Inc. introduced its IronOne Rugged Display & Computer for machine control applications at this week’s CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Purpose-built for harsh machine control environments, IronOne meets IP67-standard certification and uses an 8” sunlight-readable LCD display. IronOne adds another system component and empowers heavy equipment manufacturers to deliver their own machine control and guidance solutions to their customers.

Campaign Allows eCall Device Manufacturers to Pre-Test Galileo, EGNOS Compatibility

In effort to improve safety, the European GNSS Agency (GSA) has officially launched the Galileo and EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) test campaign for eCall devices, which allows eCall device manufacturers to pre-test Galileo and EGNOS compatibility prior to type approval.

Deadline Nears on GPS Receiver Testing Opportunity Against Live-Sky Spoofing

GPS receiver manufacturers have until March 3 to apply for a rare opportunity to test their equipment against realistic urban spoofing.

The Department of Homeland Security is offering live-sky testing focused on spoofed GPS signals. The testing, to take place in a simulated urban environment, is available to manufacturers of receivers used in critical infrastructure.

IRSO Launches 104 Satellites From a Single Rocket

Last week the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) put a record 104 satellites into orbit with a single launch, and now it’s preparing to launch Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mark-III) in a few months.

India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its thirty-ninth flight (PSLV-C37), launched the 714 kilogram Cartosat-2 series satellite for earth observation and 103 co-passenger satellites together weighing about 663 kilograms at lift-off into a 505-kilometer polar Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO).

China to Launch First BeiDou-3 Navigation Satellite this Summer

Chinese navigation satellite BeiDou-3 is scheduled to be launched in July 2017, according to its developer, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). As reported in January by People’s Daily, a publication of the state news agency, the company claimed that six to eight satellites will be deployed within the year.

Proponents of privatizing the U.S. air traffic control system have an apparently sympathetic ear in the White House as they renew their fight to wrest air operations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

President Trump criticized the FAA’s handling of air traffic control (ATC) modernization, pointing out the ongoing issues with NextGen during a February 9 meeting with airline executives.
