Europe Looking for a Goal in Space

Politics, funding and vision took center stage at the 11th EU Space Policy Conference (2019) in Brussels. The event, which brings together everyone who’s anyone in the European space community, was themed loosely around the idea that it is time to connect with the European citizen.

Elzbieta Bienkowska, European Commissioner for Single Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, reminded participants that European elections are coming soon, and the result will be crucial for everyone, although she did not elaborate or suggest who anyone should vote for.

Galileo E6-B/C Codes Now Available from the European GNSS Service Centre

With Galileo services such as high-accuracy service (HAS) and commercial authentication service on E6-B/C signal coming around the corner, the European GNSS Service Centre (GSC) has made available the main specifications of the Galileo E6-B and E6-C codes to the User Community.

New ESA Facility Integrates IT, Satnav Infrastructure to Serve Science Community

The new European Space Agency (ESA) GNSS Science Support Centre (GSSC) is based at ESA’s European Space Astronomy Centre, ESAC, near Madrid. Run by ESA’s Galileo Science Office, the GSSC integrates IT and satnav infrastructure to deliver advanced data processing services to the scientific community.

NavtechGPS Offering GNSS Operations for Engineers Course at ESA/ESTEC

NavtechGPS is offering a training seminar later month titled Course 336: GNSS Operations for Engineers at the European Space Agency (ESA/ESTEC) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

This 3-day course offers a comprehensive introduction to GPS/GNSS and DGPS technology, system concepts, design, operation, implementation and applications. Detailed information on the GPS signal, its processing by the receiver, and the techniques by which GPS obtains position, velocity and time will be covered, together with a full day on differential GPS.

Four More Galileo Satellites Brought Online Earlier This Month

European Robotics League’s Emergency Local Tournament 2019 Deadline Extended

In emergency situations, robotic systems play a key role in providing rescue teams with remote access to an emergency site. The European Global Navigation Satellite Systems Agency’s (GSA) ERL Emergency Local Tournament 2019 aims to foster advanced developments of autonomous capabilities and seamless navigation for emergency robotic systems. The deadline for the tourney has been extended to Oct. 29, 2018.
