Novatel Launches Multi-GNSS Wideband Antenna

NovAtel Inc. today (April 23, 2015) launched the GPS-704-WB antenna, a wideband antenna that supports L-band as well as the frequencies of all current GNSS constellations (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou), including B3 and E6 signals. Customers can use this antenna for GPS-only or multi-constellation applications, providing excellent flexibility for application developers, according to the company.

Customers can use this antenna for GPS-only or multi-constellation applications, providing excellent flexibility for application developers, according to the company.

The phase center offset of this antenna remains constant as the azimuth and elevation angle of the satellites change, making it able to accommodate baselines of any length, NovAtel said.  The antenna shares the same form factor as other NovAtel GPS-700 series antennas, and is enclosed in a durable, compact (185 millimeter diameter × 69 millimeters), lightweight (530 grams), and waterproof housing that meets the MIL-STD-810G standards for vibration and salt spray.

According to company specifications, the minimum gain at zenith (90°) for GNSS frequencies is as follows: L1 +5.0 dBic, L2 +3.0 dBic, L5 +3.0 dBic. Gain roll-off (from zenith to horizon) is 12 decibels on all frequencies.
