NavCom Technology Extends GNSS Receiver Capabilities

NavCom Technology, Inc., has announced new capabilities for the SF-3050 multi-frequency GNSS receiver and Sapphire GNSS OEM board.

In addition to the integrated StarFire/real-time kinematic (RTK) GNSS capabilities, the SF-3050 and Sapphire now support single-frequency, multi-constellation operation, heading, and moving base station RTK operation that enables coordinated vehicle applications.

Several new features have also been added that significantly enhance the operation of the SF-3050 in continuously operating reference station (CORS) applications. StarFire is NavCom’s global satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS), reportedly providing real-time global decimeter accuracy without the need for a local base station.

The SF-3050 and Sapphire both offer multi-constellation support for GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. They also provide high-performance in GNSS receiver sensitivity and signal tracking as well as patented multi-path mitigation, interference rejection, and anti-jamming capabilities, according to the Torrance, California–based NavCom Technology. The SF-3050 supports a range of high-speed I/O, including Ethernet, Bluetooth, and USB capability.

Powered by the new Sapphire GNSS OEM board, the SF-3050 is a fully upgradeable GNSS receiver — from single- to multi-frequency operation — through software optioning alone. Integrated StarFire can now be activated with over-the-air licensing, which sends the license via satellite directly to the StarFire capable receiver from NavCom’s StarFire operations center.

“These new capabilities offer significant new functionality and a variety of options to meet our customers’ ever-changing needs,” says Steve Wilson, NavCom’s GNSS business manager. “With this new software upgrade the SF-3050 and Sapphire now offer even greater flexibility and additional application choices including CORS, heading and coordinated vehicles, as well as projects that require single frequency operation.”

The SF-3050 and Sapphire together with the new software upgrade are available for immediate delivery through NavCom’s dealer network.
