ISGNSS 2013: International Symposium on Global Satellite Navigation Systems

The Congress Center

The theme of ISGNSS 2013 is "Connecting Continents through GNSS where Europe and Asia Meet." It will be held from October 22 through 25 at the Congress Center in Yildiz Technical University of Istanbul.

The first conference in this series was held in 1999 in Japan. The ISGNSS International Program Committee is headed by Prof. Sang Jeong Lee of Korea’s Chungnam National University.

Online registration begins May 1, 2013.

From Fledgling to Flight

The Boeing Company initiated the Unmanned Little Bird (ULB) program in the fall of 2003 to create a developmental platform for an optionally manned, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Initial flight test activity employed a modified MD530FF helicopter, with the first flight taking place on September 8, 2004. Six weeks later the program achieved a fully autonomous multiple waypoint demonstration flight from takeoff through landing.

Although not on the scale or at the strategic level of China National Offshore Oil Corporation’s takeover of Canada’s Nexen Inc., the recent acquisition of the Precise Products business of Hemisphere GPS by Beijing UniStrong Science & Technology Co. Ltd. marks a notable achievement in the GNSS world — the acquisition of a North American manufacturer with core GNSS receiver intellectual property by a Chinese enterprise.
