KVH Launches New FOG/MEMS IMU

KVH Industries, Inc., of Middletown, Rhode Island, has introduced its new CG-5100 inertial measurement unit (IMU), which combines KVH fiber optic gyros (FOGs) and microelectro-mechanical system (MEMS) accelerometers to measure roll, pitch, and yaw angular rates and accelerations.

The CG-5100 is designed for stabilization, navigation, and autonomous vehicle applications requiring precision position, velocity, and attitude sensing capabilities, dependable backup for GPS in dynamic conditions or when GPS is unavailable.

The 7th Space Weather Week will take place at Congress Centre Oud Sint-Jan in Bruges, Belgium from November 15 to 19 2010. The purpose is to bring the various countries and institutions of Europe together on space weather issues that concern them all.

It is organized by the European Space Agency, the Royal Observatory of Belgium, the Solar-Terrestrial Center of Excellence, and the European Commission COST office.

European GNSS Supervisory Authority Launches EGNOS Portal

The European GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA), on behalf of the European Commission, has launched an Internet portal for the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) designed to help developers and entrepreneurs vying for a slice of the emerging satellite navigation market.

The European counterpart to the U.S. GPS Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), EGNOS is a satellite-based augmentation system that provides real-time differential corrections and integrity information about GPS operations.

European Navigation Conference on GNSS 2010

The ENC GNSS 2010 will be held at the Stadhalle Braunschweig, Germany on October 19-21.

The main topics will be Galileo system and segment technology, status and interoperability of the GNSSes and augmentation systems, GNSS integration with communications and other terrestrial systems and GIS, developments in navigation instruments, transport and mobility and more.
