US and Australia Collaborate to Enhance GPS Resilience in Contested Environments

Members of the Australian Department of Defence recently partnered with the Joint Navigation Warfare Center. JNWC’s mission is to enable positioning, navigation and timing superiority for the Department of Defense, interagency and coalition partners. The objective was to test GPS devices’ performance under simulated jamming conditions and enhance their resilience in contested environments.

ESA Addresses Radio-Navigation Commemoration

On 30 July 2024, European navigators commemorated the 90th anniversary of Guglielmo Marconi’s first demonstration of microwave-guided navigation. In the Bay of Silence, off Sestri Levante, Italy, the historic vessel Leudo performed a blind navigation maneuver, crossing the space delimited by two buoys, guided by radio impulses transmitted from the shore. The operation was, in effect, a reenactment of radio pioneer Marconi’s demonstration of 30 July 1934.

U.S. Army Releases White Paper Request for CMFF Prototypes

The US Army released a Request for White Papers (RfWP) to develop new CMFF prototypes. CMFF—C5ISR Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) Mounted Form Factor—is the Army’s effort to easily and rapidly equip ground vehicles and aviation platforms with capabilities like positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) and electronic warfare (EW), through capability cards plugged into a common chassis.
