Esterline CMC Electronics, NovAtel Partner on New Aviation Certified GNSS Receiver

Esterline CMC Electronics and NovAtel Inc. just announced a new strategic partnership, extending their collaboration in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning technology that started in the late 1990s. The partnership will see NovAtel’s industry-leading GNSS measurement technology integrated into a new Esterline CMC-designed multi-constellation, multi-frequency (MCMF) chipset for certified aviation use.

Rohde & Schwarz and MediaTek have successfully completed the verification of location based services (LBS) in the U-plane and C-plane for A-BeiDou (Assisted BeiDou), China’s GNSS satellite positioning system. The R&S TS-LBS test solution is designed to allow mobile manufacturers, chipset manufacturers, test houses and network operators to verify chipsets and mobile devices in order to obtain permission to operate them in a particular network.

Applanix, University of Waterloo Collaborate on Advanced Technologies for Autonomous Vehicles

Applanix, a Trimble Company, announced this week that it is collaborating on advanced research for autonomous vehicle guidance and control systems with the University of Waterloo Centre in Ontario, Canada for Automotive Research (WatCAR). Applanix will provide WatCAR with its Positioning and Orientation System (POS) for testing autonomous guidance and control systems in real-world conditions. Applanix will also provide the Trimble GNSS-Inertial board set for integration with car systems and sensors to enable precise positioning.
