CSR Unveils Newest SiRFstarIV Family Member

CSR plc. introduced the SiRFstarIV GSD4e GPS location processor, the newest member of the recently launched SiRFstarIV architecture, at the company’s Location 2.0 Summit in San Diego, California, earlier this month.

The GSD4e adds a built-in CPU and innovations such as SiRFGeoRecov technology that are optimized to ensure continuous location awareness in a new breed of digital cameras, portable game consoles, wearable platforms and other consumer devices, without loading the host processor.

CERGAL 2010, GNSS Certification Symposium, Issues Call for Papers

The 2010 CERGAL symposium will take place in the Baltic city of Rostock, in northern Germany, next April 28-29.

This year, the Symposium on Certification of GNSS Systems and Services will concentrate on maritime and inland waterways applications and GNSS testing infrastructure.

In addition to those topics, papers are invited on GNSS system aspects and aviation, road, rail and other special applications. Abstracts are due on November 30, 2009.

Navman Wireless OEM Launches Jupiter3 GPS Module

Navman Wireless OEM Solutions, based in Foothill Ranch, California, has announced the availability of its new Jupiter3 Ultra-Small GPS Receiver Module, the company’s smallest GPS module (11 x 11 x 2.2 millimeters) and the basis of its next generation of GPS receiver solutions.

Based on SiRF’s GSC3f/LPx chipset, the Jupiter3, is expected to eventually provide the core for all future Navman wireless GPS modules, offering low power consumption (11.5mA ATP), high sensitivity (-159dBm) and modest pricing.

Rakon Offers New Manta TCXO for GNSS Applications and High-sensitivity Communications

Rakon, the New Zealand-based manufacturer of frequency timing solutions, has launched a new TCXO in its Manta Series.

The HT7500/HVT7500 temperature-controlled oscillator combines discrete design and ASIC compensation in a compact standard 7m x 5m x 1.9m SMD package. It offers high-quality stability and phase noise.

Advanced IC technology, using unique fifth-order compensation over wide temperature ranges (-40°C to 85°C), makes this TCXO suitable for GNSS applications and for use in precision GPS where low phase noise is required.

Leica Viva from Leica Geosystems is a new-generation measurement system that combines a number of technologies into a portfolio of total stations, GNSS receiver, system controllers and onboard software.

NovAtel Launches GPS / GLONASS Products at ION Conference

NovAtel Inc. rolled out a series of new products and a firmware upgrade at the Institute of Navigation’s ION GNSS 2009 conference held September 22-25 in Savannah, Georgia, USA.

The Calgary, Alberta, Canada–based GNSS manufacturer announced the launch of their new single-frequency GNSS receiver, OEMStar. The low-cost, 14-channel, L1 receiver measures 46 x 71 millimeters and consumes just 750 milliwatts of power when tracking both GPS and GLONASS signals.
