Canadian Army to Test NovAtel’s GAJT GPS Anti-Jam Antenna

NovAtel has announced that Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) has selected the company’s GAJT-700ML antenna, a single-unit GPS anti-jam antenna system, for testing on Canadian Army armored vehicles. The testing is being conducted through PWGSC’s Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP).

NovAtel Supplies Reference Receivers for IRNSS Ground Segment

NovAtel Inc., has announced an agreement with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to supply reference receiver products for use in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) ground segment.

India-based Elcome Technologies Pvt. Limited, a sister company to NovAtel in the Hexagon Group of Companies, will provide local integration, training and technical support services for the NovAtel receivers.

Hemisphere GNSS Names Chuck Joseph as New Chief

Hemisphere GNSS, Inc., has named Chuck Joseph as the company’s new president and CEO, effective immediately.

Joseph, who has a lengthy history in the GNSS industry with well-known companies as Trimble Navigation and Magellan Corporation, has also been appointed to the Hemisphere GNSS board of directors. He replaces Phil Gabriel as the company’s president.

KVH Launches Multi-Axis FOG at AUSA 2013

KVH Industries, Inc., introduced the multi-axis DSP-1760 fiber optic gyro (FOG) today (October 21, 2013) at the Association of the United States Army annual meeting and exposition, AUSA 2013, in Washington, D.C.
 
The unit’s novel design combines 1, 2, or 3 axes of high-performance FOGs within an easy-to-integrate housing, according to the company. Depending on the application, an optimal combination of axes can be integrated within an environmentally sealed, lightweight enclosure.

Hemisphere GNSS Announces New GNSS OEM Positioning Modules

Hemisphere GNSS has launched the Eclipse P306 and P307 multi-frequency GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou modules, the first products to incorporate the company’s new SX4 ASIC.

With 372 channels, the modules can simultaneously track code and carrier phase signals on up to 89 satellites, are are Galileo- and QZSS-ready, and can be configured to address several diverse applications through software, according to the company.

NovAtel Garners FAA Contract for 3rd-Generation WAAS Receiver

NovAtel G-III WAAS Reference Receiver

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has contracted with NovAtel Inc. to produce and deliver 176 Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) third-generation reference receivers (G-III).

The contract also includes engineering support for the G-III receiver as well as the current generation reference receiver (G-II), Geostationary Earth Orbit Uplink Subsystem – Type 1 (GUST) receiver, and Signal Generator (SIGGEN).

IFEN GmbH, in partnership with WORK Microwave, have announced the release of software update v1.9 for their NavX-NCS GNSS multi-frequency simulator product line.

GNSS Applications Ideas Contest Extends Deadline to July 7

The 2013 European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) is about to close to new submissions of GNSS application ideas, but organizers have decided to extend the deadline until midnight on Sunday, July 7.

The ESNC prize pool is worth about €1 million, which includes cash prizes, business incubation, coaching, patent consulting, prototyping and marketing support, access to customers and user communities, and publicity.
