Gregory D. WinfreeRegistration is now open for the 55th meeting of the Civil GPS Service Interface Committee (CGSIC). It will take place on Monday and Tuesday, September 14 and 15 just before the opening of the ION GNSS conference at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida.
This year, the keynote speaker will be Assistant Secretary for Research
and Technology Gregory Winfree of the U.S. Transportation Department.
The EGNOS Service Provision Workshop, the annual meeting for EGNOS policymakers, users and application developers, will take place on September 29 and 30 at the AC Hotel Bella Sky in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The event includes presentations, debates, updates and analyses from companies and agencies who use EGNOS in real applications, focusing on safety of life and other services in aviation.
The event is organized by the European Satellite Services Provider SAS (ESSP) and the European GNSS Agency (GSA).

GAJT-AENovAtel, Inc., has announced that Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) has selected its GAJT-AE antenna electronics for testing on Canadian Army platforms.
The GAJT-AE, developed in Calgary at NovAtel’s global headquarters, is a GPS anti-jam solution designed for small and weight-constrained applications. The testing is being conducted through PWGSC’s Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP).
PWGSC will procure a number of GAJT-AE’s on behalf of the Department of National Defence (DND).
Forsberg Services Ltd., which acquired the StarLink product line from Raven Industries in April, has announced its decision to partner with NavtechGPS to distribute the StarLink line, which includes in-line amplifiers, coaxial down/up converters, splitters, and fiber-optic link systems.

It will be hosted by the United States and organized by University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) on behalf of the U.S. State Department.
It will take place at UCAR headquarters on the Center Green Campus in Boulder.

Students on a field trip at 2014 International School on Satellite NavigationThe 5th International School on Satellite Navigation will take place in the GLONASS Learning Centre in Moscow, Russia from September 14-24.
The event is organized by Roscosmos and JSC Russian Space Systems.
Lectures and hands-on studies cover the history,current status and future applications of GLONASS and GPS. It includes theoreticaf lectures and practical exercises. The first covers satellite navigation fundamentals and the second the combined use of Earth Remote Sensing and GNSS data in specific sectors of the economy.

IPIN 2015 will take place October 13-16 at the Banff Centre, a conference center and school for the arts location in the Rocky Mountain resort town of Banff, a 90 minute drive west of Alberta, Canada.
The indoor postioning and indoor navigation conference includes experts in electronics, surveying and informatics who will discuss this key issue in many emerging applications.

The 2015 Harold Spencer-Jones Gold Medal was presented to Gibbons by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth II, on July 15 at the Royal Geographical Society in London. The duke is the patron of the institute.

Ashton Carter, the new U.S. Secretary of Defense has been making clear he supports moving past GPS to a disbursed network based on microelectromechanical systems or MEMS for position, navigation, and timing (PNT) information.
Carter, who was tapped to lead the Pentagon in February, appears to have first publicly floated the idea a year ago, about six months after leaving the Department of Defense (DoD), where he had served most recently as deputy secretary of defense, a role that included cochairing the interdepartmental National Space-Based PNT Executive Committee.
