AfricaGEO 2014 Conference & Exhibition

The AfricaGEO 2014 Conference & Exhibition will be held at Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in Cape Town, South Africa, from July 1-3 2014. The conference theme is ‘Developing Geomatics for Africa’, with an emphasis on the development of Geomatics (as an industry/technology) in the African context.

A series of plenary and parallel technical sessions as well as panel discussions will be scheduled throughout the three day conference.  The official language of the conference will be English.

Spirent Federal GNSS Technical Meeting 2014

The 2014 Spirent Federal GNSS Technical Meeting will be held July 15-16, 2014 at the Double Tree by Hilton in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.

Spirent engineers will lead the 1-1/2 day technical meeting, including a half-day of FOUO sessions, on state-of-the-art GNSS simulation equipment.

The general session will be held on July 15-16, FOUO sessions will be held on Wednesday July 16.

FCC Workshop on GPS Receivers Alarms GNSS Community

Leading navigation experts are worried an upcoming workshop on GPS receivers being organized by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an attempt to initiate design mandates for user equipment that could potentially undermine the GNSS community.

“There is currently planned an FCC workshop that is going to, among other things, address certification and standards for receivers,” said Brad Parkinson, the acting chair of the National Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Advisory Board and a former chief of the NAVSTAR GPS Joint Program Office.

Developing geomatics for Africa with a focus on doing business in Africa and African land reform is the theme of this conference, first held in 2011.

The event will take place at The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in Capetown, South Africa on July 1, 2 and 3.

The program consists of plenary and technical sessions, panel discussions, educational workshops on surveying, geo-information, remote sensing and aerial imagery.

Trimble Announces Integrated Multi-Constellation GNSS, UHF Module for RTK Apps

Trimble has introduced its new BD930-UHF receiver and communication module, combining a triple-frequency GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou/Galileo receiver with an integrated UHF module.
 
Part of Trimble’s GNSS OEM portfolio, the new compact module features centimeter-level, real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning capabilities, according to the company. By integrating wireless communications on the same module, the BD930-UHF module is designed to significantly simplify the reception of RTK corrections.
