Applanix Corporation has launched the POSPac MMS (Mobile Mapping Suite) 5.2, the latest release of its GNSS-aided inertial post-processing software for mobile mapping and surveying applications in multiple environments.

Applanix has announced that its POS AV products now support on-board OmniSTAR XP real-time differential GPS corrections using a purpose-built GNSS+L-band aircraft antenna and an embedded BD960 GNSS receiver.

OmniSTAR XP is a satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) service that provides real-time corrections for GPS signals in order to improve positioning accuracy. Until now, Applanix POS AV users needed to add an external SBAS receiver and mount a separate L-band antenna on the aircraft fuselage in order to receive OmniSTAR corrections.

The new POSPac MMS 5.2 functionality includes land-based mobile mapping support, making they system fully capable of processing mobile mapping data obtained from air, sea, and land platforms.  According to Applanix, the new version offers customers lowered costs, less complexity, and improved results in the execution of all mobile mapping mission types.

In addition to adding full support for land-based mapping, POSPac MMS 5.2 includes a batch manager that allows for the processing of multiple POSPac MMS projects at one time, Applanix “Smart Select” technology that automatically selects, downloads, and imports the best available Applanix SmartBase network of reference receivers; support for the multifrequency Trimble BD960 GPS/GLONASS receiver with OmniSTAR VBS/XP/HP correction capability, and support for Windows XP/VISTA 32-bit and 64-bit.
