The 2011 Munich Satellite Navigation Summit will take place from March 1 through 3 in Der Residenz, the palace of the old Bavarian royal family and now home to four museums.
The event features high-level discussions about all of the world’s navigation satellite systems. It is organized by the Institute of Geodesy and Navigation at University FAF Munich.
The technical program begines with a plenary presentation on "GNSS in Balance," followed by a Bavarian State Reception.

This year, discussions focus on:
- Galileo, the European GNSS
- The status of Russia’s GLONASS and its transition from FDMA to CDMA
- China’s COMPASS
- Regional systems such as QZSS (Japan) and IRNSS (India)
- New regional augmentation systems
- The worldwide field of GNSS applications, receiver and service creation, and legal issues.
- New applications and services in satellite navigation combined with telecommunication and information technology, in particlar geo-information technology.
An industry exhibition takes place with the conference.
The kickoff for the 2011 Galileo Masters competition (European Satellite Navigation Competition) will take place at the conference.
