Parimal Majithiya received his B.E. (electronics and communication) from Gujarat University and an M.Tech degree in satellite communications from Andhra University.

He joined the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Space Applications center in 1987 and worked in the field of satellite communication and system engineering as a project manager.

He has been extensively involved in the INSAT-2, INSAT-3, GSAT series, and in METSAT. He contributed in the areas related to regional satellite mobile communication system, satellite-aided search and rescue on-board processor, and optical inter-satellite link for data relay system. He has also developed a novel onboard downlink rain fade mitigation technique for multibeam Ka-band system.

Presently he is working as a deputy project director – IRNSS payload system engineering and contributed to defining the IRNSS system configuration and signal structure. He designed IRNSS navigation and ranging payloads. He also defined the specifications for the navigation payload performance parameters.

Majithiya has developed many navigation-specific hardware units for satellite operations, such as modulation scheme, signal switching, onboard clock setting, its synchronization, and so forth. He also developed many measurement techniques for IRNSS navigation payload. He contributed in the in-orbit test campaign of IRNSS satellites.
