Mosaic Launches Meridian Mobile Mapping System with Integrated Inertial Labs INS

Mosaic has introduced the Meridian Mobile Mapping System at Geo Business in London, aiming to enhance geospatial and surveying technologies. This system integrates the Mosaic X camera with an INS/Lidar device from Inertial Labs, offering high-accuracy mapping at a more accessible price point compared to traditional systems.

Technical Specifications and Features

The Meridian system offers a 74MP native resolution and 13.5K resolution panoramas, utilizing precisely synchronized camera modules. The design minimizes image overlap, providing clearer and more consistent panoramas. The integrated INS system boasts vertical accuracy of 2-3 cm and precision of 2-4 cm.

The Meridian system aims to tackle three major challenges in the industry:

  1. Integration: The system offers seamless, out-of-the-box operations with fully integrated and calibrated components, unlike fragmented third-party systems.
  2. Usability: Designed for ease of use, Meridian requires only minutes of training and does not necessitate highly specialized technicians. Its rugged design ensures performance in harsh conditions.
  3. Cost: Meridian provides a comprehensive solution at a fraction of the price of competing systems, with no hidden fees for software subscriptions or data hosting.

Jeffrey Martin, Founder and CEO of Mosaic, stated, “Since the day we announced the Mosaic X camera to the market in 2020, the response from the geospatial community for a comprehensive mobile mapping solution has been incredible, with many eagerly anticipating our expansion into this market sector. We’re thrilled to finally unveil Meridian and deliver on our goal of bringing advanced mapping technology to more professionals and redefining what they can expect from their mapping systems.”

Jamie Marraccini, CEO of Inertial Labs, commented on the partnership, “I am genuinely excited about our new partnership with Mosaic. This collaboration means a lot to us at Inertial Labs because it combines our cutting-edge navigation technology with Mosaic’s creative solutions, especially in the mapping field. Working closely with their team, I already see the incredible potential we have to transform how mapping and navigation are integrated and utilized in our industry. I can’t wait to see what we achieve together.”
