L-3 Interstate Electronics Corporation (IEC)
has announced that its latest modernized GPS receiver has successfully acquired and tracked live block IIR-M satellite M-Code (pseudo–M-Code) signals indicating proper operation of many receiver functions.

M-code acquisition and track are important steps in the integration and completion of the new receiver. This effort was accomplished in September and demonstrated to government representatives using an L-3 developed Ground Based GPS Receiver Applications Module (GB-GRAM-M) designed under the Modernized User Equipment (MUE) Receiver Card Development Program, awarded in June of 2006.

The L-3/IEC–developed GB-GRAM-M card incorporates L-3’s single ASIC solution, the Melody ASIC, which has been designed to satisfy the modernized GPS needs for providing reliable GPS Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) information to the warfighter.

As a member of the U.S. Air Force’s MUE program, the L-3 team will continue integration throughout the rest of this year, culminating in the delivery of pre-production GB-GRAM-M cards in February of 2010.
