Inside GNSS readers should note a registration-only workshop on the future of the Galileo public regulated service (PRS) on Tuesday, October 4 from  9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The PRS is unique to Galileo, it is intended to be a spoof- and jamming-resistant encrypted navigation and timing service for government agencies, police, first responders and possibly the military.

The workshop is open to EU, Norwegians and Swiss citizens.

The main event will consist of 11 user-led half-day seminars on the EU’s navigation and Earth observation programs and how they can be used in healthcare, agriculture, land, air and maritime transportation, financial services, emergency response and disaster management, environmental protection and more.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, developers and small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) can participate in a Business Support and Development Fair where they will learn about financing, legal issues, EU funding and business incubation opportunities and EGNOS/Galileo and GMES technical support.

The European Space Expo, a traveling, interactive exhibition showcasing EU programs, will be held in conjunction with the conference. It will be open to the public December 1 through 6 at Horse Guards Parade in St. James’s Park.

The Space Solutions conference reception will be held at the European Space Expo site on Tuesday evening.
