The 746th Test Squadron (746 TS) will conduct its sixth JAMFEST, an innovative GPS jamming exercise at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), New Mexico, in mid-January, 2009 — a rescheduling of the event that had been planned to take place next month.
JAMFEST programs are aimed at providing low-cost, realistic, GPS jamming scenarios for testing GPS-based navigation systems, as well as training personnel in unique GPS denied environments.

NaviForum, China’s large GNSS industry event, has been postponed from this December until next year.
“Due to the big earthquake and Olympics game in China, the Chinese government decided to postpone the NaviForum to sometime next year,” NaviForum organizer Peter Zhou told Inside GNSS. Zhou is executive secretary of the conference’s organizing committee.

Continuum soaks up the rays in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.A sleek-looking solar car built by a University of Michigan team was first across the finish line early in the afternoon of July 22 after a long, hot 10-day 2,400-mile (4,000 km) race from Plano, Texas to Calgary, Alberta. And once again GPS and satellite-based differential corrections play a key role.
This year, 15 solar-powered cars built by students from universities in the U.S., Canada, and Germany completed the 2008 North American Solar challenge.
Michigan has won five out of nine NASC races, held every other year since 1990.

The U.S. Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) Munitions Directorate will sponsor a workshop on advances in guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) for miniature autonomous systems, October 20–22 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
With the assistance of the Institute of Navigation (ION), the workshop is designed to bring together the Department of Defense technical and user community, academia, and industry to riview and discuss the technological trajectory and future challenges of these systems.

The European Space Agency has extended until May 16 the deadline for paper abstracts for oral and poster presentations for NAVITEC 2008, ESA’s fourth workshop on satellite navigation user equipment technologies.
This year’s theme is "GNSS User Technologies in the Sensor Fusion Era." Galileo receiver technologies and experimentation are a special focus of this year’s event.
The workshop will take place from December 10-12 at the European Space and Technology Centre in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Mealtime discussion at GNSS Summer School 2007Online registration is open for the 2008 Summer School on Global Navigation Satellite systems. The 10-day course will take place in Berchesgaden, Germany from Monday, July 21 to Thursday, July 31. The program is open to 50 students and early registration is advised.
The international summer school is organized by Germany’s Institute of Geodesy and Navigation at the University FAF Munich, Stanford University, and the French Institute Superieur de l’Aeronautique et de l’Espace.
