GMV Will Launch Fully Hosted Software GPS Receiver at Mobile World Congress

GMV will launch the SRX-10, a software GPS receiver for mass-market applications, at this year’s GSMA Mobile World Congress, scheduled February 14–17 in Barcelona, Spain.

As a fully hosted solution, all SRX-10 receiver functions — even signal acquisition and tracking — can be hosted on a general purpose CPU with only the requirement of adding on a low cost RF front-end, according to the company.
The company cites other benefits offered by its new software receiver, particularly its substantial flexibility and upgradeability.

Location & Beyond Summit 2010 Features Location-Aware Innovation Awards

Wireless pioneer Andrew Seybold and Kanwar Chada, founder of SiRF Technology, will select the finalists for the People’s Choice awards for best location innovation at the 2010 Location & Beyond Summit on October 6. The event focuses on the "transformative effects of connecting everything and everyone, everyplace." 

The four-year-old summit — formerly Location 2.0 — will be held at the St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco during the CTIA Wireless Enterprise and Applications 2010 conference.

ESA Sponsors GNSS Summer School this September in Denmark

An informal discussion at the 2009 GNSS summer school

Online registration is open for the fourth International Summer School on Global Navigation Satellite systems. The 10-day course will take place at the GPS Center at Aalborg University in Slettestrand, Denmark from Wednesday afternoon, September 1 through Saturday morning, September 11.

Held for the first two years at University FAF Munich, it now takes place in Denmark with two new lead sponsors, the European Space Agency and Nokia.

Submit abstracts by February 19 for the 2010 Joint Navigation Conference

The deadline for abstract submission for the 2010 Joint Navigation Conference has been extended to Friday, February 19.

The 2010 Joint Navigation Conference (Guidance, Navigation and Control) will take place at Wyndham Orlando Resort in Florida, USA from June 7 to June 10, 2010.

The conference theme is "Military Navigation Technology: The Foundation of Military Ops." It is cohosted by the Joint Service Data Exchange (JSDE) and the Institute of Navigation (ION) for the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security.

ION GNSS 2010 Abstracts Due By March 12

ION GNSS 2010 in Portland, Oregon USA

Paper abstracts are due on Friday, March 12 for the 2010 Institute of Navigation GNSS conference.

It will take place at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon from Tuesday evening, September 21 through Friday morning, September 24.

This will be the 23nd international technical meeting of the Satellite Division of ION. It is the world’s largest and oldest GNSS conference, founded in 1987 as the ION GPS conference.
