Maxtena Joins Anti-Spoofing, Anti-Jamming Fray

Maryland-based GNSS antenna manufacturer Maxtena is working on a new anti-jamming, anti-spoofing solution. Speaking at InterGEO 2024 in Stuttgart, Maxtena Antenna Engineer Leo Vincelj told Inside GNSS, “Right now we’re developing our own CRPA [controlled reception pattern antenna], based on a two-by-two patch plan.” CRPAs are specifically designed to reject interference signals like those used in jamming and spoofing attacks.

ESA Lunar Navigation Update

The Lunar Pathfinder (LP) satellite has entered its integration and testing phase, to be completed by the end of this year (2024). Built by Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL), LP will provide communications services in the lunar orbit.

Roke Develops Miniature eLORAN Antenna

The long-range navigation (LORAN) system, introduced during World War II, continues its ascent as a potential complement to GNSS services, especially in indoor, urban and underground scenarios. The UK-based Roke company, with support from the European Space Agency (ESA), is working to bring enhanced LORAN (eLORAN) to a broader user base, developing a miniaturized eLORAN antenna for portable and even hand-held devices.
