The sixth international conference on localization and GNSS will take place at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) – Casa Convalescència, a UNESCO site, on June 28, 29 and 30 in Barcelona, Spain.
ICL-GNSS covers recent research on terrestrial and satellite-based positioning techniques to provide reliable, accurate and low latency position information with the goal of inspiring new design, implementation, test and evaluation methodologies for positioning platforms.

The 10th Baška GNSS Conference will take place May 8–10, 2016, in Baška, Krk Island, Croatia, organized jointly by The Royal Institute of Navigation (London, UK), Faculty of Maritime Studies (University of Rijeka, Croatia), and the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences (University of Zagreb, Croatia), with technical co-sponsorship from Beihang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (Beijing, China)

The 2016 InterGEO Trade Fair and Conference for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management will take place at the fairgrounds —Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC)—in Hamburg, Germany on October 11, 12 and 13.
Now 22 years old, the fair attracts 16,000 visitors from 92 countries who process, use or analyze geodata online or in the field.
The conference will cover the latest developments in surveying, geoinformation, remote sensing and photogrammetry and allied technologies. Proceedings are conducted in German and English.

Finlandia Hall conference centerThe 2016 ENC will take place at Finlandia Hall in downtown Helsinki on May 30 and 31 and June 1 and 2. The event will focus on innovations in positioning, navigation and timing technologies and applications at land, sea and air. Topic areas include GNSS positioning,indoor and urban navigation and position based applications.
The opening keynote speaker will be Matthias Petschke, director for European Satellite Navigation Programs, European Commission. The conference endnote will be presented by John Raquet, U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology.

The National Executive Committee for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT ExCom) has recommended using enhanced Loran (eLoran) as a near-term alternative to GPS for essential timing data while it determines what capabilities are needed for a comprehensive GPS backup, officials told Congress this week.

Concept design for the world’s largest airport passenger terminal – the Beijing New Airport Terminal Building. Zaha Hadid Architects drawingTrimble announced today (December 8, 2015) that it has received a contract extension to use the company’s technology from Trimble to integrate construction and operations for the high-profile Beijing New Airport Project, expected to be the world’s largest when completed at an estimated cost of $13.1 billion.
In April, Trimble won the initial bid to supply the project with a construction information management system. Based on the success of the solution to date, the contract has been extended to include additional machine control systems for soil stabilization.

Figures 1 & 2On April 28, 2015, the European Parliament voted in favor of an eCall regulation, which requires all new models of passenger cars and light vans that will be certified for the European market to be equipped with the automated emergency-call technology beginning in April 2018. The measure applies to all such vehicles regardless of selling price. In the future, a similar service may be implemented for trucks as well.

The World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, agreed Wednesday (November 11, 2015) to allocate RF spectrum for global flight tracking in civil aviation.
NovAtel Inc. has announced that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and NovAtel have exercised a bi-lateral option to produce a Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) G-III – Galileo prototype receiver to advance research on multi-GNSS constellation operation.

The European GNSS Agency (GSA) yesterday (October 27, 2015) announced the evaluation results of its second Horizon 2020 call for Galileo applications. Some 13 projects made the main list to be funded, receiving grants totaling nearly €24.9 million (US$27.5 million).
