ICG-11: International Committee on GNSS

Russia will host the eleventh meeting of the International Committee on GNSS (ICG) from November 6 to 11, 2016 in Sochi, on the Black Sea near Georgia. This meeting is organized by Roscosmos, the State Space Corporation. It will take place at the Pullman Sochi Center Hotel and Conference Center.

The ICG is a voluntary United Nations–backed association that brings together GNSS and augmentation providers, including the United States, Russia, European Union, China, India, and Japan.

The ICG is a voluntary United Nations–backed association that brings together GNSS and augmentation providers, including the United States, Russia, European Union, China, India, and Japan.

The group of GNSS providers meets to discuss the various needs of GNSS users, strives for compatibility and, eventually, interoperability among the systems and helps smooth the way for developing countries to integrate satellite positioning, navigation and timing services into their infrastructures.

The forums also focus communication between GNSS providers and the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), ITU (International Telecommunication Union) and the IMO (International Maritime Organization) and other similar groups. 

The Proiders Forum on Sunday, November 6 will be co-chaired by Sergey Karutin, Russian Federation and Kenneth Hodgkins, USA.

Previous meetings have been held in Prague, Czech Republic; Dubai; Beijing, China; Tokyo, Japan; Turin, Italy; St. Petersburg, Russia; Pasadena,California USA; Bangalore, India; Boulder, Colorado USA; and the founding meeting in Vienna, Austria.
