Urban Localization and 3D Mapping Using GNSS Shadows

It is by now well known that GNSS-based localization in built-up urban environments can be extremely inaccurate. This is a fundamental problem that hardware enhancements cannot solve.

A GNSS receiver estimates 3D location and timing from pseudoranges from four or more satellites, assuming that these pseudoranges correspond to direct line-of-sight (LOS) paths from each satellite. In urban canyons, however, the signal from a satellite to the receiver suffers from multipath propagation and shadowing.

GNSS User Meet 2015

The GNSS User Meet 2015 will be jointly hosted at the ISRO Satellite Centre in Bengaluru by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Airports Authority of India on the theme, “Towards Self Reliance in Satellite Navigation."The technical program will include plenary talks, paper presentations, poster sessions, and panel discussions.

Participation is invited from the GNSS user community, including various government departments, academia, GNSS receiver manufacturers, research laboratories, and so forth.

PTTI 2016: Precise Time and Time Interval Meeting

The Precise Time and Time Interval Systems and Applications meeting is technical conference held each year for PTTI managers, system engineers and program planners. It will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey, California on January 25 through 28. It is sponsored by the Institute of Navigation (ION).

In 2016, for the first time, PTTI will be co-located with the ION International Technical Meeting. Registration for one event entitles attendees to attend all sessions of both events.

New PRS-Capable GNSS Receiver Platform from QinetiQ

New QinetiQ PRS-capable receiver

British manufacturer QinetiQ has today (July 14, 2015) announced its progress in developing a GNSS navigation receiver that can process encrypted Galileo Public Regulated Service (PRS) signals.
 
The multi‑constellation, multi‑frequency receiver is a significant step in the company’s GNSS technology development, says QinetiQ, which expects to bring to market by 2020 end-user products for navigation, tracking, and timing based on the new receiver design. That timeline parallel’s the Galileo program’s current schedule for completing its satellite constellation.

2015 ASPG International Symposium: Geodesic Datum and Regional and Terrestrial Reference Frame Realizations

The 2015 symposium of the Asia-Pacific Space Geodynamics (ASPG) project will focus on Geodesic Datum and Regional and Terrestrial Reference Frame Realizations. It will take place at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, Russia from August 24 through August 28.

The conference language will be English. Scientific representatives from China and Russia comprise the organizing and program committees.

ICG-10: 10th Meeting of the International Committee on GNSS

The tenth meeting of the International Committee on GNSS (ICG) will take place in Boulder, Colorado from November 1 through 6 2015. It will be hosted by the United States and organized by University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) on behalf of the U.S. State Department.

It will take place at UCAR headquarters on the Center Green Campus in Boulder.

Fifth International School on Satellite Navigation

The 5th International School on Satellite Navigation will take place in the GLONASS Learning Centre in Moscow, Russia from September 14-24.

The event is organized by Roscosmos and JSC Russian Space Systems.

Lectures and hands-on studies cover the history,current status and future applications of GLONASS and GPS. It includes theoreticaf lectures and practical exercises. The first covers satellite navigation fundamentals and the second the combined use of Earth Remote Sensing and GNSS data in specific sectors of the economy.
