The Canalys Navigation Forum Americas, a conference targeting the mobile navigation industry, will take place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Half Moon Bay, California, from October 14 to October 15, 2008.
The theme of the two-day event is "Capitalizing on a High-Growth Market." It will combine informal networking time with industry presentations and discussion. Major issues to be covered will include the importance of traffic, the influence of the mobile carriers, competition between product categories, evolution of the industry ecosystem, and the potential of location services.
Sessions include a debate by three companies on their favorite LBS/navigation applications, the potential for new location-aware services, results from a recent LBS survey conducted by Canalys, and a discussion by Latin American experts on the prospects for GPS navigation in that continent’s largely untapped market.
Sessions will be followed by a gala dinner on Teusday evening and a golf tournament on the Half Moon Bay golf Links on Wednesday afternoon.
The forum is sponsored by Canalys, United Kingdom-based consultants offering market data, analysis and advice to IT, telecom, navigation and consumer electronics companies.
