A. S. Ganeshan received his master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

He has initiated and led several activities such as space debris modelling, Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) position determination using GPS; re-entry, rendezvous, and docking, and planetary missions.

Ganeshan conceptualized the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) constellation and has been leading the activities in its realization. Implementation of the GPS-Aided Geo-Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) system has been yet another important accomplishment.

He is currently the program director for the Satellite Navigation Program, and group director of ISRO’s Space Navigation Group.
