Smithsonian Air and Space Museum: Lecture, Film and Comments on “Time and Navigation” exhibit

"GPS for Humanity-The Stealth Utility" is the title of a lecture by GPS pioneer Brad Parkinson that will be webcast live at 8 p.m. EST on Thursday, March 21  from the Lockheed Martin Imax Theater at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on the Mall in Washington D.C.

Parkinson’s lecture is part of a special event that includes a film on space junk and commentary on the museum’s new exhibit, Time and Navigation: The Untold Story of Getting Here to There.

The new exhibit will open on April 12.

Parkinson’s speech is part of the museum’s GE Lecture Series. He will discuss the history, applications and future of the U.S. Global Positioning System, and the critical relationship of navigation to time.
