Established in 1989, APEC describes itself as a forum for facilitating economic growth, cooperation, trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region. It includes 21 participating nations. APEC’s Transportation Working Group set up the GIT in 2002, tasking it to investigate multimodal uses of GNSS.

The GNSS Innovation Summit includes sessions on air, land, maritime and intermodal transportation applications and policies, as well as safety and security-related applications. Michael Shaw, director of the U.S. Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Coordination Office will give the keynote:“Strategic Importance of GNSS Services and Innovations for Transportation.”

The GIT/12 Meeting will address GNSS-related activities of economies, GIT initiatives, progress of the GNSS Testbed Project and some administrative matters.
