Housed GNSS Positioning and Heading Receiver for Construction, Machine Control

Septentrio introduced a new compact and robust integrated heading GPS/GNSS receiver, the AsteRx SB ProDirect. It delivers accurate heading and pitch or heading and roll information in addition to reliable high-accuracy RTK positioning, according to the company.

The device provides continuous positioning for demanding industrial applications in robotics, construction, machine control and similar applications. Its performance is designed to withstand intense mechanical vibrations, shakes or shocks. Machinery in these environments and applications can access heading and pitch or heading and roll information immediately from power-up, allowing trajectory path optimization and fully informed navigation from mission start.

With a multi-constellation, triple-frequency antenna, AsteRx SB ProDirect includes 448 hardware channels for simultaneous tracking of all visible satellite signals:
GPS: L1, L2
GLONASS: L1, L2
Galileo1: E1, E5b
BeiDou1: B1, B2
SBAS: EGNOS, WAAS, GAGAN, MSAS, SDCM (L1)
QZSS1: L1, L2

In a form factor of 102 x 36 x 118 mm and weighing 497 grams, it also offers a dual-antenna option, and includes:
• AIM+ anti-jamming and monitoring against narrow and wideband interference
• APME+ a posteriori multipath estimator for code and phase multipath mitigation
• LOCK+ tracking robustness under heavy mechanical shocks or vibrations
• IONO+ advanced scintillation mitigation
as well as receiver autonomous integrity monitoring (RAIM).

The company cites the following positioning accuracies:
Horizontal standalone 1.2 m; SBAS 0.6 m; DGPS 0.4 m.
Vertical standalone 1.9 m; SBAS 0.8 m; DGPS 0.7 m.
RTK performance: Horizontal accuracy 0.6 cm + 0.5 ppm; Vertical accuracy 1 cm + 1 ppm; Initialization 7 s.
GNSS attitude accuracy:
Antenna separation 1 m: heading 0.15°; pitch/roll 0.25°
Antenna separation 2 m: heading 0.03°; pitch/roll 0.05°
