4th Conference on European Union Space Policy

The 4th high-level EU conference on European Space Policy will take place at the Parliament Hemicycle, 43 rue Wiertz, in Brussels on November 8 and 9, 2011.

The theme is "A Space Policy for Society and Citizens," and the program will emphasize future funding and applications of the Galileo navigation system and the GMES, the European earth observation and monitoring system.

The conference is free and open to the public, but everyone must register online by October 31. Those who do not register by that date should contact the conference organizers by email at spaceconference@b-bridge.eu.

The presidents of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission will open the conference at 8:45 a.m. on November 8.

The opening plenary speaker will be Antonio Tajani, vice-president of the European Commission in charge of industry and entrepreneurship. Other speakers that morning include the head of the European Space Agency and other senior officals and the corporate leaders of Astrium, Thales Alenia Space, OHB, Arianespace and Finmeccanica.

On November 9, a session at 10:45 a.m. will open with remarks by Hervé Jouanjean, Director General, DG Budget, European Commission, and will cover financial support for space-based assets and services.
