Wanted: Director of U.S. PNT National Coordination Office

The National Coordination Office for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) is looking for a new director.

This office supports the National Space-Based PNT Executive Committee (ExCom) and Executive Steering Group, established by the 2004 National Security Policy Directive for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing. Mike Shaw, the NCO’s first and only director to date, left earlier this year for a position as director of navigation systems global business development at Lockheed Martin Space Systems in Arlington, Virginia.

The National Coordination Office for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) is looking for a new director.

This office supports the National Space-Based PNT Executive Committee (ExCom) and Executive Steering Group, established by the 2004 National Security Policy Directive for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing. The director is responsible for oversight of an interagency staff that provides strategic advice, coordination, and outreach regarding policies, architectures, requirements, and resource allocations for maintaining and improving the U.S. space-based PNT infrastructure. USAF Col. Robert Hessin is currently assigned as the NCO’s acting director.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) is coordinating recruitment of the new director. The posting closes September 21.
