Dr. Paul D. Groves is a senior lecturer (associate professor) at University College London, where he leads research into robust positioning and navigation within the Space Geodesy and Navigation Laboratory.

Dr. Paul D. Groves is a senior lecturer (associate professor) at University College London, where he leads research into robust positioning and navigation within the Space Geodesy and Navigation Laboratory.

He joined UCL in 2009 after 12 years of navigation systems research at DERA and QinetiQ. With colleague Dr. Ziyi Jiang, he recently completed an investigation of new GNSS NLOS and multipath mitigation techniques. With colleagues, he has also demonstrated several new methods for improving GNSS performance in dense urban areas, including the award-winning shadow-matching technique.

Groves is an author of more than 60 technical publications, and is author of the book, Principles of GNSS, Inertial, and Multisensor Integrated Navigation Systems (Artech House 2013). The first edition was reviewed by Demoz Gebre-Egziabher in the September-October 2008 issue of Inside GNSS.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation and holds a bachelors degree and doctorate in physics from the University of Oxford.

Groves is interested in multisensor navigation, including low-cost inertial sensors, environmental features and context determination.
