Inertial Labs Partners with FT Technologies to Enhance Navigation Accuracy for UAVs

Inertial Labs has announced a new development in its navigation solutions by integrating the FT743-D-SM Acoustic Resonance air speed sensor from FT Technologies into its inertial navigation systems (INS).

This integration enhances the accuracy of horizontal air speed estimation for multi-rotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), especially in GNSS-denied environments. The FT743-D-SM sensor, featuring innovative Acoustic Resonance technology, provides precise measurements of air speed from any direction, significantly reducing position drift compared to traditional inertial/dead reckoning methods.

Jamie Marraccini, CEO of Inertial Labs, emphasized the significance of this advancement, stating, “Our enhanced INS aiding data ecosystem, incorporating FT Technologies’ air speed sensor, marks a critical step forward in providing high-accuracy navigation solutions tailored to our clients’ needs.”

Gordon Bease, Director of North American Operations at FT Technologies, also highlighted the collaborative effort, noting, “This partnership has produced a disruptive GNSS-denied navigation solution for drones, showcasing our combined expertise in developing cutting-edge technologies.”

This strategic enhancement promises to improve navigation precision and reliability across various applications, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to innovation and excellence in the navigation and UAV sectors.
