Abstracts for the ION GNSS+ 2017 conference will be accepted online through March 10, 2017. The conference and industry exhibition covering all aspects of satellite navigation technology will take place September 25-29 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon USA.
The theme will be "GNSS + Other Sensors in Today’s Marketplace." It will be the 30th International Technical Meeting of the satellite division of the Institute of Navigation (ION), and the event will feature two tracks: "Applications and Advances" focusing on safety of life, commercial and mass market applications and GNSS plans and policies. The second track, "Research and Innovations", will concentrate on autonomous systems, multisensor applications and advanced GNSS algorithms.
ION was founded in 1945 in the United States as a professional organization for those involved in air, space, marine, land navigation and position determination. Its membership is worldwide, and it is affiliated with the International Association of Institutes of Navigation. ION’s satellite division started what has now become the venerable GNSS+ conference in 1987, when GPS technology was in its infancy.
ION GNSS+ 2017 is the world’s largest technical meeting and showcase of GNSS technology, products and services, and brings together international leaders in GNSS and related positioning, navigation and timing fields to present new research, introduce new technologies, update current policy, demonstrate products and exchange ideas. ION Unveils New Logo
The Institute of Navigation recently announced that it has introduced a new organization logo — the most significant change to the visual identity of the organization in its 72-year history.
The modernization of the ION logo was a necessary step forward in the evolution of the Institute. Given the numerous new digital platforms that are now used, ION has adapted its logo in keeping with the growing trend of simpler, less complicated and more visually impactful designs.
As the field of positioning navigation and timing continues to experience such rapid growth and advancement, so must the Institute adapt and grow with it, ION stated.
The new logo features an eight-point compass rose, a historic design element that is emblematic of ION’s rich and proud history. The compass rose is set against a bright blue background – the Institute’s first introduction of a second logo color. The design element is coupled with the deliberately clean, modern and bold acronym reflective of the organization’s strength and vision for the future.
The Institute conducted an extensive logo review process soliciting input from members, leaders and branding professionals. The ION Council voted on and approved the new ION logo during its January 2017 meeting. The new logo can now be seen on the ION website and in its social media feeds.
