Submit the best idea for a brand new satellite navigation application or device and you just might win the 2009 Galileo Master’s Award – €20,000 in prize money and lots of support to make your idea a reality.
But that’s not your only chance – you can try for one of the eight special topic prizes or one of the 17 different regional prizes, together worth €500,000 in cash and start-up assistance.
The competition began six years ago in Bavaria, Germany, but it has expanded to include many other regions of Europe as well as Australia, Israel, and Taiwan.

Recent winning innovations include a rescue system for persons who have fallen overboard at sea;a mobile, GPS-supported social network; a mobile phone-based guidance system that aids more economical driving; a remote monitoring system for recovering heart patients; a Web 2.0 platform that delivers location-based videos in real time; and a flood prediction system.
Innovators who do not live in one of the partner regions may select their preferred region. You do not need engineering drawings or a prototype of your idea, but a very specific rendering will help. (And, the organizers suggest that you patent or otherwise protect your idea legally before submitting it.)
The European Satellite Navigation competition accepts submissions through July 31, 2001. You must register online. You may alter and improve your idea anytime until the deadline.
You may enter more than one idea – but you can’t enter the same idea in different regions or for different special topic prizes.
