Since 2004, the ESNC has received almost 2,400 submissions from 4,263 teams and named 204 award winners.
A network of more than 200 international experts from industry, research and politics will evaluate the entries. These experts represent various sectors, such as ICT, aerospace, transport, automotive, logistics, politics, research, consulting, media, and patenting.
Many of these business cases have subsequently been successfully brought to market. The ESNC partner regions and key institutional and industry stakeholders award prizes worth around €1 million each year, including cash, business incubation, coaching, patent consulting, prototyping and marketing support, access to customers and user communities and publicity in the world’s leading satellite navigation network.
Contest entrants may submit their services, products, or business innovations that use satellite navigation in everyday life online between April 1 and June 30 at <www.galileo-masters.eu>.
Competitors may apply for a regional prize, selecting the partner region that they believe would best support their business cases. In 2014, six special prizes will be sponsored by industrial and research partners who are seeking innovative solutions to their specific needs based on satellite navigation:
· GSA: The most promising application idea for European GNSS
· European Space Agency: ESA Innovation Prize
· German Aerospace Center (DLR): GNSS Reloaded — Applications in Context
· European Paten Office: Best Patented Innovation
· University Challenge
· GNSS Living Lab Prize
Kinexon, a cloud-based solution for analyzing and visualizing athletic training data on mobile devices, won the ESNC 2013 competition.
