GlobalGeo/ International Geomatics Week 2009

The biennial GlobalGeo fair will be held at the Montjuc Exhibition Centre in Barcelona’s Congress Centre from March 3 to March 5 2009. The event includes the International Geomatics Week scientific congress.

The fair features a talk on "Geography in your pocket and the clouds" on March 5 by Ed Parsons, the geospatial technology expert from Google.

The scientific program theme is "The Future of Galileo-GPS Today." Presentation topics are: Galileo and GPS, Geodesy and Navigation, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, and Cartography and GIS.

The scientific committee president is Dr. Manuel Hernandez-Pajares,  (gAGE, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain)

The exhibition side will showcase a broad range of applications in geoinformation and satellite navigation (GPS), among others.

Applications include: fleet and personnel location and management, territorial planning, mobile telephony, protection of environmental resources, traffic management and emergencies, safe navigation for ships and planes, topography, cartography, and GPS navigation.
