Swift Navigation and Telit Cinterion Partner to Boost Precision in Low-Power GNSS Devices

Swift Navigation and Telit Cinterion have joined forces to enhance the precision of GNSS positioning in devices that require low power consumption, such as wearables, robotic lawn mowers, and vehicle tracking systems.

This partnership aims to push the boundaries of location-based applications, enabling these devices to achieve centimeter-level accuracy. This level of precision is crucial for the safe operation of autonomous vehicles and industrial robots, but integrating it into small, battery-powered devices has been a complex challenge until now.

The collaboration leverages Telit Cinterion’s GNSS receivers alongside Swift’s Skylark® Precise Positioning Service. This combination promises to deliver consistent precision across vast areas while prioritizing energy efficiency, reducing processing demands, and minimizing data transmission costs. Importantly, it aims to provide accurate location information quickly, even in difficult environments like urban centers and canyons where signals can be obstructed.

Marco Argenton from Telit Cinterion emphasized the partnership’s role in addressing the needs of emerging e-mobility and IoT applications. By integrating Skylark with Telit Cinterion’s technology, such as the SE868SY-D module, the collaboration ensures users get precise positioning without a high power cost.

Holger Ippach of Swift Navigation expressed excitement about the partnership’s potential to unlock new possibilities for precise positioning across various sectors. This move could significantly benefit IoT and mobile app developers, offering them the ability to include precise positioning in their applications more easily than before.

The solution is designed to be compatible with industry standards, making it interoperable with a broad array of GNSS chipsets, modules, receivers, and applications, facilitating easier and more cost-effective implementation.
