Edward Breeuwer

Edward Breeuwer is the system integration and verification manager in the Galileo Project Office at ESA ESTEC.

Breeuwer is responsible for the organization and coordination of all testing activities at system level, which includes the satellites, the ground segments and the user receivers. As an element of this, the generation of the first position fix has been a major milestone.

He has acted as overall responsible for the IOV test campaign.

Stefano Binda

Stefano Binda is system performance verification engineer in the Galileo Project Office at ESA ESTEC.

He holds a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy.

Binda was involved in the preparation and execution of the IOV Test Campaign especially as regards the orbit and Clock synchronization and timing verification and validation.

Diana Fontanella

Diana Fontanella received her M.Sc. in telecommunications engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy.

Since 2010 she has been a research associate in the Institute of Space Technology and Space Applications at the University of the Federal Armed Forces (UFAF) Munich.

Fontanella is currently involved in European Space Agency (ESA) and French Space Agency (CNES) projects with a focus on GNSS signal design and performance assessment in dispersive channel conditions.

Jürgen Dampf

Jürgen Dampf received his M.Sc. in aviation engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Graz.

Since 2012 he has worked for IFEN GmbH as a system engineer emphasizing GNSS reflectometry, GNSS/INS integration and embedded software receivers.

Dampf joined IGASPIN GmbH in 2016 as System Engineer and later became CTO, while his GNSS activities focus on spoofing signal generation, spoofing detection, mitigation and localization and GNSS signal processing techniques.

Rigas Ioannides

Dr. Rigas Ioannides works at the TEC-ETN section in the RF Payload Systems Division at ESA-ESTEC in support of radionavigation activities and the Galileo project.

His main research interests include GNSS signal design, signal processing techniques for stand-alone and integrated GNSS architectures, authentication and anti-jamming techniques at system and user level for GNSS applications, and GNSS integrity concepts.

Giovanni Gamba

Dr. Giovanni Gamba is an R&D engineer for Qascom.

He is involved in theoretical design and development of interference and spoofing detection, mitigation, and localization algorithms for various GNSS-related projects. He worked for the Italian National Research Council (IEIIT-CNR) on interference detection and mitigation for industrial applications operating in the 2.4-GHz band.

Gamba received his Ph.D. degree in information engineering from the University of Padova, Italy.

Alessandro Pozzobon is the founder and project manager of Qascom.

He is coordinating different projects regarding GNSS and security with ESA, the GSA, and the European Commission.

Pozzobon received a degree in information technology engineering from the University of Padova and a master degree in computer science from Queensland University of Technology.

Philip Mattos

Philip G. Mattos gained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in electronic engineering from Cambridge University, followed by Master’s degrees in telecoms and computer science from University of Essex.

He joined STMicroelectronics in 1979. Mattos was made a visiting research fellow at Bristol University, awarded an external Ph.D. for his GPS work, then appointed a visiting professor at University of Westminster in 2011.
