Russia to Put 8 CDMA Signals on 4 GLONASS Frequencies

[Corrected March 20] Russia is “close to completion” of a coordination plan for the “whole set of GLONASS signals” that will include eight different CDMA signals on four frequencies, according to Prof. Grigoriy Stupak, deputy director general of the Russian Institute of Space Device Engineering (RISDE) and the general designer for the GLONASS system.

First GPS Block IIF Satellite Moves to Cape Canaveral: Launch Window Opens Mid-May

First Block IIF Satellite (Boeing)

[updated Februaary 16] The first Block IIF satellite is undergoing final launch preparations after arriving at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida aboard a Boeing-built C-17 Globemaster III airlifter.

Space Vehicle 1 (SV-1), the first of 12 GPS IIF satellites for the U.S. Air Force, will lift off on a United Launch Alliance Delta IV vehicle later this year, with the first launch window in mid-May.

National Weather Service Invites Comments on Ionospheric Data Products for GPS Users

The U.S. National Weather Service’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) is inviting suggestions and opinions about the agency’s ionospheric weather products for the GPS constellation, today and on out through the next solar max, 2013–2014. Increased solar activity can magnify ionospheric scintillation and other phenomena that can affect the performance of GNSS receivers.

RIN/Digital Systems KTN GPS Jamming and Interference Conference

"GPS Jamming and Interference – A Clear and Present Danger" is the theme of this one-day conference sponsored by the Royal Institute of Navigation and the Location and Timing Program of Digital Systems KTN, a UK network funded by Britain’s Technology Strategy Board.

The event will be held at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington (London) on Tuesday, February 23.
