Now that Hurricane Irene and summer vacation have blown over, members of Congress are returning to Washington, D.C., to resume — among other things — addressing the question of LightSquared’s interference to GNSS.
A hearing originally scheduled for August 3 is back on the agenda for the U.S. House Science, Space, and Technology Committee and now scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. on September 8.

Entitled “Impacts of the LightSquared Network on Federal Science Activities,” the hearing roster includes the same set of witnesses as before: Mary Glackin, deputy under secretary, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; Badri Younes, deputy associate administrator for space communications and navigation, National Aeronautics and Space Administration; Peter Appel, administrator, Research and Innovative Technology Administration, Department of Transportation; David Applegate, associate director, Natural Hazards branch, U.S. Geological Survey; Scott Pace, director, Space Policy Institute, George Washington University.
