Voting Open for ION’s Council and Executive Committee Officers

Voting is currently open for the Institute of Navigation’s (ION) 2019-2021 Council and Executive Committee officers. All ballots must be received by Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

To access the online ballot, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to: https://www.ion.org/governance/voting.cfm
  2. Sign in to your ION Web Account*.  Current ION members will be able to access the ballot.
  3. Mark your selections and submit the ballot by clicking the button at the bottom of the screen.

Securing PNT Workshop Looks at GNSS Back-up Options

With eyes on a future where reliable GNSS back-ups are in place to protect against both accidental or intentional disruptions of GNSS, three organizations represented on Positioning, Navigation and Timing Technical Group (PNTTG) – Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN) and The General Lighthouse Authorities – hosted a seminar last month to review user needs and the status of two possible RF back-up options to GNSS mentioned in the London Economics report on the economic impact of a GNSS disruption.

RIN INC 2016: Royal Institute of Navigation International Navigation Conference

The Royal Institute of Navigation’s International Navigation Conference 2016 will be held at the University of Strathclyde Conference Centre in Glasgow, Scotland from November 8 – 10, 2016.

A number of keynote speakers will discuss topics from Virgin Galactic’s voyage to space to quantum sensors for inertial navigation to autonomous cars, android phones, train control and even "Three dimensional thinking: from rats to humans, via Klingons."

Poster and demonstration abstracts are due by May 30. Full paper submission is due on June 15.
