Microchip’s Carrier-Grade Time, Synchronization Portfolio Expansion Improves Network Deployment, Reliability and Scalability

One of the biggest 5G network deployment challenges is synchronizing higher volumes of more densely packed base stations. Another is keeping services operating through GNSS lapses due to vulnerabilities such as jamming, spoofing or loss of signal. Microchip Technology Inc., via its Microsemi subsidiary, is solving these and other challenges for networks with additions to its Precision Time Protocol (PTP) PackeTime® portfolio including the TimeProvider 4100 Release 2.0. The TimeProvider release adds 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) support, a Boundary Clock operation mode that lowers operational costs, and other enhancements to improve how timing flows are distributed from multiple sources to a network’s base stations and other endpoints.

Microsemi’s BlueSky GNSS Firewall Designed to Protect Against Spoofing, Jamming Threats

The new BlueSkyTM GNSS Firewall protects already deployed GPS systems by providing a cost-effective overlay solution installed between existing GNSS antennas and GPS systems, according to the manufacturer Microsemi. Similar to a network firewall, the BlueSky GNSS Firewall protects systems inside the firewall from untrusted sky-based signals outside the firewall.

Microsemi’s Updated TimeProvider 5000 Grandmaster Clock Supports IPv6, Multi-GNSS

Microsemi Corporation announced the hardware on its TimeProvider 5000 IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) grandmaster clock has been updated to support Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and multi-GNSS constellations to ensure better reception and higher security in a wide variety of telecommunications network applications.
